On January 21st, I joined the Cloud Foundry Foundation as it held its inaugural board meeting. The board voted me in to lead the Foundation to drive the worldwide growth of Cloud Foundry as an open source project, a community of developers, and as an ecosystem of providers, partners, and customers.
Yesterday we announced the news of my appointment and the appointments of board members from our sponsors. We are privileged to have the moral, technical, and financial support of so many companies despite the relative youth of the project; it speaks to the usefulness of Cloud Foundry as an open source codebase.
Our board members are:
- ActiveState - Bart Copeland
- EMC - John Roese
- HP - Bill Hilf
- IBM - Christopher Ferris
- Intel - Nicholas Weaver
- Pivotal - Rob Mee
- SAP - Sanjay Patil
- Swisscom - Marco Hochstrasser
- VMware - Ajay Patel
Our goal is to run cloudfoundry.org with the speed and agility of a startup, not a traditional consortium. This will help us continue the rapid growth and momentum Cloud Foundry has achieved to date.
We'll need guidance and mentorship from many more people and organizations in order to deliver what Cloud Foundry should become: a ubiquitous app platform that enables a huge ecosystem of apps and developers to grow and prosper.
Please send me your thoughts and advice as it comes up for you. I can always be found at [email protected].
